Where to spend the night?
Thousands of beds are at your disposal in the Region, ranging from five-star hotels to sympathetic Bed&Breakfasts (B&Bs). Where can you find these beds?
Hotel
If you want to spend the night in a hotel, visit the Tourist Information Board website or book a special arrangement at the Coolbreaks website.
Bed & Breakfast
For a homey guest house you need to go to a Bed&Breakfast. Private individuals who have a spare room really enjoy having a guest over. Nice English-language web sites for such addresses are Gelderland Bed and Breakfast and Bed and Breakfast.nl.
Youth hostel
Young people and those with little money to spend can go to informal youth hostels such as Alteveer, in the northern part of Arnhem.
Camping sites
Dutch people are very fond of camping as can be evidenced from the large number of camping grounds situated in the green surroundings of Arnhem Nijmegen Cool Region. A caravan or small house can also be rented at the majority of these camping sites. This will make a fine operating base for sightseeing trips through the entire Region. The web site of the regional tourist bureau has a list of camping sites for the Region.
Spending the night on a boat
It is also possible to spend the night on a boat. The 'Orca' boat in Nijmegen will rock you to sleep on the river Waal. This renovated barge from 1914 has eight huts and twelve to fourteen berths. The 'Compaen' boat is available in Arnhem. Arnhem is also the home base of the Rex Rheni, a passenger ship on the river Rijn that has its own restaurant and 150 beds. You can book online: www.slaapschepen.nl.
An attractive bed
Sleeping in a monument is a privilege and a pleasure and it is possible to do so in one of the Dutch heritage lodgings of Arnhem Nijmegen Cool Region. Feel the history of that gentleman's farmhouse, tollhouse, castle or ferry house. And then afterwards fall asleep in a luxury and attractive bed.
