52 Degrees
On initiative of multinational NXP (before Philips) an international research and development centre for semiconductors has arisen in Nijmegen. It resides in a remarkable eighteen-floor building on the edge of the industrial estate Novio-techcampus (before Winkelsteeg). It is called: 52 Degrees.
In the tower offices and research rooms are located. Underneath the building is a large car park. In the future 52 Degrees will be expanded with more knowledge intensive activity.
Kema
Institute Kema in Arnhem occupies itself with consultancy, research, inspection and innovation in the field of materials, damage cases, energy applications and recycling. By now it has assisted approximately five hundred energy businesses in seventy countries with expertise in the field of consultancy and implementation. Kema distinguishes itself by the combination of technical knowledge and management expertise in public utilities.
Nuclear Research & consultancy Group
The Nuclear Research & consultancy Group (NRG) in Arnhem is an international knowledge centre for nuclear technology. The company owns extensive (nuclear) facilities, such as the 45 MW research reactor (the HFR)
, the hot-cell laboratories (de HCL), laboratories for research and analysis, decontamination facilities and the radio-isotope production unit. NRG also provides services to non-nuclear lines of business such as the chemical, oil and gas industry and the medical sector. The company is the largest producer in the world of isotopes for the medical sector.
Akzo Nobel
The department Technology & Engineering of multinational Akzo Nobel in Arnhem can be called in by industrial businesses. Akzo offers its expertise in the field of health and safety, environment, durability development, toxology, project and design management and support of processes and manufacturing.
Teijin Aramid
Aramide manufacturer Teijin Aramid has its own research institute in Arnhem. It ranks among the top fifteen of research and development centres in the Nederlands. The manufacturer of artificial fibres invests five percent of its turnover into research and development. One hundred and twenty people work at the research institute.
Technovium
At present the het Technovium is being built in Nijmegen, a meeting place for students, teachers and entrepreneurs. The Technovium is targeted at science education at all levels up until the bachelor level.
