Nederlands Instituut Fysieke Veiligheid Nibra

The Nederlands Instituut Fysieke Veiligheid Nibra (Dutch Institute Physical Safety) in Arnhem develops knowledge for the fire brigade, medical aid in case of accidents and disasters, crisis control and leadership development. As a result people will be safer in case of accidents and disasters. The Nibra is recognized as authoritative expertise centre. The Nibra has four academies:

• the Brandweeracademie (Firebrigade Academy)
  
• the GHOR Academy
• the Academie voor Crisisbeheersing (Academy for crisis control)
  
• the Academie voor Leiderschap Veiligheidsregio's (Academy for leadership Safety Districts)
  

Greenport

The greenhouse horticulture around the villages Huissen and Bemmel, south-east of Arnhem, is a knowledge intensive greenhouse chain, Greenport. Not only the produced goods are export products, but also knowledge itself. Exchanging knowledge, for example on improving techniques, leads to a higher crop production. Greenport fits in perfectly with the developments in Food Valley in university city Wageningen.

Het Rijksinstituut voor Integraal Zoetwaterbeheer en Afvalwaterbehandeling (National institute for integral freshwater management and waste water treatment, Riza) researches and consults in the field of integral freshwater management and the repair of water systems. The Riza also advises on permits for draining waste water. The Riza is part of Rijkswaterstaat, the executing organization of the Dutch Ministry of Transport en Communications.
