2nd Edition of Go Short Film Festival

After last year’s success, this year will have again a Go Short – International Short Festival in Nijmegen. The festival for the short film (not more than 40 minutes) is held this year from 17 to 21 March inclusive.

Dutch Railway Station Goffert in sight

Special cooperation between Arnhem and Rijn IJssel

The Municipality of Arnhem (gemeente Arnhem) will strengthen its ties with the ROC Regional Training Centre regionale opleidingencentrum Rijn IJssel and collaborate on social and economic improvement of the city. ROC (1,200 staff and 15,000 students) will call forth its knowledge and qualities for plans and projects.

Waalsprinter sees an increase of 45%

Car owners who want to park their cars cheaply and avoid heavy traffic have become more familiar with the Park + Ride Breng Direct Waalsprinter. Some 36,000 cars were parked on the premises in 2008, and this number grew to more than 52,000 in 2009, which means an increase of 45%.

Researchers of St Raboud University Medical Centre have found the genetic cause of a hereditary form of visual impairment. They used a revolutionary but relatively fast and cheap DNA technology (Next Generation Sequencing) to map out this hereditary form.

Jacques Delors is to be the first laureate to receive the Treaties of Nijmegen medal. The former chairman of the European Commission (1985 – 1995) will receive the medal in recognition of his role in the development of European unity.

Wanted Design: Designers for horticulture

Greenport Arnhem Nijmegen is a cooperative working agreement between a large number of companies, authorities and institutions that are involved in the horticulture chain in City Region Arnhem Nijmegen. Greenport Arnhem Nijmegen, together with Syntens and Ontwerp Platform Arnhem (OPA Design Platform Arnhem) started a project under the name of 'Symbiose KAN'. Designers and market gardeners will get acquainted with each other’s expertise and explore the possibilities for putting the horticultural products distinctively and competitively on the market.

Arnhem city marketing projecting its identity on green and creative

In the next few years, Arnhem wants to project its identity more as a green and creative city. This is written in the draft memorandum ‘City Marketing Policy’ drawn up by the Municipality of Arnhem. The new city marketing policy aims to bring city marketing more in line with Arnhem’s policy aims. The Made in Arnhem campaign will be continued and intensified.
