Work & Training Programme Arnhem-Nijmegen will receive 2 million

Job seekers and young people threatened with unemployment are often low-skilled whereas employers are mainly in need of a qualified workforce. That is why fully exploiting the potential and enhancing the qualifications by intensive training are of the essence. This task will be undertaken jointly by 13 project partners in the region.

The (follow-up) project Boosting Work & Training in City Region Arnhem Nijmegen received a subsidy of € 2 million. It is the first subsidy promised within the scope of the temporary incentive scheme Work & Training for young people with a job but without starting qualifications, for job seekers and for those who threatened with unemployment.

City Region created over 1,800 extra work-study projects in the first Work & Training Programme, which started in September 2007. This means that the target of 1,200 action plans was reached with flying colours.

The regional partnership consists of the municipalities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, UWV Employee Insurance Agency WERKbedrijf of Arnhem and Nijmegen, the Chamber of Commerce Central Gelderland, the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers VNO-NCW Central, Regional Training Centres Nijmegen and Rijn IJssel, REA College and the national knowledge centres Calibris, Kenteq, SVGB and VAPRO-OVP.
