Wine-festival in Groesbeek
The village of Groesbeek will be fully dedicated to wine in the last weekend of September. Surrounded by the beautiful hilly landscape of Groesbeek, the Dutch Wine-festival will offer a varied programme for both wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
Dutch National Wine Week
The Dutch Wine-festivals always take place in the weekend preceding the National Wine Week. A regular part of the National Wine Week is the open day organized by Dutch winegrowers, which this year is due to be held on Sunday 27 September. During the open day, also the Groesbeek winegrowers will open their vineyards to the public. This year's special event is the opening of the wine chateau of wine farm De Heikant.
Winnings wines
Having a total of 10 hectares of wine yards, Groesbeek has grown into the largest wine producing village in the Netherlands over the past few years. The vineyards are located in the beautiful Groesbeek hills. A suitable soil and the introduction of new grape varieties adapted to the Dutch cool summer climate have made it possible to produce quality wines in the Netherlands. This explains why the Groesbeek wines have been among the winners for several times. During last year's international wine contests, Wijnhoeve de Colonjes won a gold medal for both its white Cabernet Blanc 2007 and its red Regent Barrique 2006.
