Speed Networking
From June 6 to July 6, 2009, Arnhem City Centre will be the hub of the third edition of the Arnhem Fashion Biennial. The world’s largest cultural fashion event took SHAPE as the central theme. On Saturday June 20, 2009, in the Fashion Quarter in the Arnhem Klarendal district, people can attend speed networking sessions with Arnhem fashion designers who have their own shops or their own labels. Entrepreneurs can share stories about the success they have in the fashion branch. The Chamber of Commerce will explain what is needed to start an own business, and the public will also hear more about this Cool Region. The walk-in afternoon is held from 1.30 pm to 4 pm in Restaurant Goed Proeven at Klarendalseweg 536.
Tour of Fashion Quarter
Every hour, visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the district in the afternoon. Developer of the Fashion Quarter Pieter Jongelie will give visitors a tour of the ateliers in Klarendal, which is ‘the place to be’ for creative entrepreneurs in fashion. Pieter Jongelie is to open an enterprise in the district: the Arnhem Fashion Factory. Participants to the walk-in afternoon can have a look at this unique ‘Monsteratelier’ on the day before the official opening.
Arnhem Fashion Entrepreneurs
Fashion is a major economic sector in Arnhem. Comparatively speaking, there are more businesses in Arnhem going into fashion than in the rest of the Netherland. In 2008, some 568 enterprises were active in the Arnhem fashion cluster, and another 34 enterprises started with a business in the fashion cluster. The Central Gelderland Chamber of Commerce is well disposed towards the Fashion Biennial and underlines the economic importance of the fashion sector.
