More culture by more cooperation in the Arnhem region
Ten municipalities around Arnhem will cooperate to make more culture possible. With this in mind, the municipalities have recently put their signatures on the Culture Pact.
The participating municipalities are Lingewaard, Duiven, Overbetuwe, Renkum, Rheden, Rijnwaarden, Rozendaal, Wageningen, Westervoort and Zevenaar.
Three themes
The culture programme of the ten municipalities has three themes: culture tourism and heritage; amateur art, youth and well-being; culture education for elementary school pupils.
Projects will be initiated with the available budget and must fulfil various conditions. One of them is that it must be a recurring supralocal project, but projects targeting students, young people or tourists also score high.
Interest
Culture Pact is especially encouraging culture education and a growing interest in culture. ‘Culture does not only have a value in itself,’ said Hans Esmeijer, member of the Provincial Executive, ‘there is also an economic value. People and enterprises tend to look for areas that are attractive, and the cultural climate is one of the major factors in this.”
