Exposition Views on Rijnboog Knowledge Cluster

expired

Culture in Rijnboog is a joint project by nine major Arnhem cultural institutions under supervision of the city of Arnhem that involves their joint housing and cooperation in Rijnboog – the new crowd puller in the centre of Arnhem. This will take place in two spectacular buildings, an arts cluster and a knowledge cluster. In the Arnhem public library (Koningstraat 26) five architects' views on the knowledge cluster can be seen from Wednesday 17 June up to Tuesday 30 June inclusive.

European Tender Process Rijnboog Cluster

The five architects mentioned participate in a European tender process to compete for obtaining the order to design the expertise cluster. The preparation for the architects' selection is in hands of a specially appointed selection committee advising Mayor and Aldermen in July.

New building needs to be inviting

The Rijnboog Knowledge Cluster needs to be an inviting building making a visit to it a special experience. The selection committee therefore presented the architects with five questions asking them for their views on the knowledge cluster. The first question is how they would design the knowledge cluster to become an inviting and accessible building that is alluring and inspirational on the inside as well as the outside. Furthermore, the architects need to show what contribution their design will make to the city, how it will fit into the overall picture, in what way the building and its outdoors will serve as a multifunctional cluster, and what they expect of the building's sustainability.

Five architects competing for Rijnboog Knowledge Cluster

The five architects competing for the knowledge cluster in order of alphabet include Claus & Kaan Architecten, Jo Coenen & Co Architecten, Diederendirrix b.v., Neutelings Riedijk Architecten b.v. and VenhoevenCS Architecten.

Culture in Rijnboog

The knowledge cluster is only one half of the project Culture in Rijnboog. The other half will be taken up by the arts cluster - including the Arnhem Museum for Modern Art, the Arnhem theatre and Focus Cinema.
