Arnhem town centre has room for five more hotels
The town centre of Arnhem has room for five more new hotel projects. According to the Arnhem Mayor and Alderman, there will be room for 265 additional hotel rooms until 2015. Research pointed out that with 727 hotel rooms Arnhem is lagging behind with respect to similar towns such as Utrecht, Groningen and Maastricht.
The projects involve four future hotels and the expansion of the 90 years old Haarhuis Hotel with forty rooms. The Van der Valk family owning the Toekan-hotel near Papendal is intending to open a new hotel in Weerdjesstraat in the future business park of Rijnboog. In addition, Ovido Holding from Oosterbeek is planning a new hotel in a property at Eusebiusbuitensingel, whereas BAM Utiliteitsbouw is aiming for the former Sterpolis office in Jansbuitensingel. Finally, AM wonen once indicated to be interested in building a new hotel at the Coberco premises. Due to the economic downturn, AM's plans have been shelved.
