Arnhem on route with Hydrogen.
The municipal Arnhem provides subsidy on conditions of a maximum of €444,000 to the Stichting Waterstof Onderneming Gelderland ‘Foundation Hydrogen Enterprise Gelderland’ as a contribution for the realisation of the project “H2 Gelderland, stimuleren rijden op waterstof” ‘H2 Gelderland, stimulating driving on hydrogen.’
The project requires an investment of €.,6 million .
The project produces 3 results:
- Development and usage of an electrical powered auto bus. Instead of a conventional Diesel- or gasoline driven engine these auto busses will be outfitted with an electrical “zero-emission” fuel cell. The fuel cell is designed by NedStack, an Arnhem company, and the electrical hub engines by E-traction, an Apeldoorn company.
- For at least two year three passenger cars and a rally-car, modified by the HAN, will drive on hydrogen.
- Realisation and exploiting an public hydrogen gas station in Arnhem for at least two years.
The project will start as soon as possible and will presumably last till the end of 2011. The province Gelderland and the Arnhem City Region are also chipping in with large financial contributions. The remainders of the project investments will be produced by different companies and organisations and by the foundation itself. This is a clear sign of a good cooperation and partnership, on route to a cleaner type of transportation and an economic strong and defining region.
