Jacques Delors to receive the first Treaties of Nijmegen medal

Jacques Delors is to be the first laureate to receive the Treaties of Nijmegen medal. The former chairman of the European Commission (1985 – 1995) will receive the medal in recognition of his role in the development of European unity.

Arnhem city marketing projecting its identity on green and creative

In the next few years, Arnhem wants to project its identity more as a green and creative city. This is written in the draft memorandum ‘City Marketing Policy’ drawn up by the Municipality of Arnhem. The new city marketing policy aims to bring city marketing more in line with Arnhem’s policy aims. The Made in Arnhem campaign will be continued and intensified.

Wanted Design: Designers for horticulture

Greenport Arnhem Nijmegen is a cooperative working agreement between a large number of companies, authorities and institutions that are involved in the horticulture chain in City Region Arnhem Nijmegen. Greenport Arnhem Nijmegen, together with Syntens and Ontwerp Platform Arnhem (OPA Design Platform Arnhem) started a project under the name of 'Symbiose KAN'. Designers and market gardeners will get acquainted with each other’s expertise and explore the possibilities for putting the horticultural products distinctively and competitively on the market.

Formation of the Olympic Network Gelderland

The alliance agreement between NOC*NSF [Netherlands Olympic Committee* Sports Federation], Top Sports Gelderland , Gelderland Sports Federation and Centrum voor Topsport en Onderwijs Papendal [Papendal Centre for Top Sports and Education] was sealed when the documents were signed in January. The Olympic Network Gelderland aims to strengthen clubs and support talents and sports stars from Gelderland.

City Region represented in new network: HYPE

Victoria van Krieken has strengthened Bureau Brussels from January 1. She will also represent the City Region in the new-founded Young Professionals Network HYPE.

Chip Manufacturer NXP posted a rise in turnover

It is the first time in 18 months that Nijmegen chip manufacturer NXP reported a rise in turnover.

Dutch Railway Station Goffert in sight

Dutch Railway Nijmegen-Goffert Station between Nijmegen Central Station and Nijmegen Dukenburg Station is planned to be realised in 2012. The design for the station and the surrounding area will be presented this autumn and the station will be ready by the end of 2012

Waalsprinter sees an increase of 45%

Car owners who want to park their cars cheaply and avoid heavy traffic have become more familiar with the Park + Ride Breng Direct Waalsprinter. Some 36,000 cars were parked on the premises in 2008, and this number grew to more than 52,000 in 2009, which means an increase of 45%.

Special cooperation between Arnhem and Rijn IJssel

The Municipality of Arnhem (gemeente Arnhem) will strengthen its ties with the ROC Regional Training Centre regionale opleidingencentrum Rijn IJssel and collaborate on social and economic improvement of the city.
