Students HAN University building car in TV serial

expired

TV programme ‘Prautotype’, for the first time to be watched on RTL 7 on Sunday 8 February at 5 pm, will highlight the extensive process of developing and building a concept car, ‘Prautotype 003’. This will be the third season for RTL to broadcasts this series. Together with the Dutch automotive branch, students of Han University will build the new Prautotype 003. HAN University will show the results of this innovation on the forthcoming AutoRai in Amsterdam.

Prautotype 003

Some 30 students of the departments of automotive engineering, industrial products designs and mechanical engineering will participate in the Prautotype 003 project. In a motivating real-life case they are challenged to be creative in the field of the environment and sustainability during their studies. The purpose of Prautotype 003 is to develop and integrate various innovations, including the use of hydrogen as fuel, to test its workings and its practicability, and to show these innovations when they are eventually applied. With Prautotype 003, HAN University will show that in spite of limited means it is possible to build a real fuel-efficient and clean car by cleverly combining various ideas.

The TV programme

The Prautotype programme will focus attention on the process. The car will be constructed in the building of the Institute of Technology, Automotive Engineering, in Arnhem. The space is so organized that a real operating ‘Prautotype’ can be constructed from various components. How will the team of designers envisage the design of this bolide, and how will the business sector respond?

The role of HAN students

Students will work in project groups for developing and building the Prautotype 003. Every team will be responsible for one aspect of the Prautotype: the wheel suspension, the built, the drive, hydrogen, designing the interior and the exterior, and even public relations. During the programme a number of students will be introduced on a special theme site, and every show will give extensive background information. The website is to be launched soon after the first programme.
