Hello Kitty en Cream Cortex in een indrukwekkende ICT-omgeving

Over Cyberport kan ik kort in het Engels berichten. Alle informatie is te vinden op www.cyberport.hk. Cyberport is a US $2 billion (HK$15.8 billion) landmark project managed by Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and wholly owned by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).  The project is being developed on a 24-hectare site at Telegraph Bay in the southern district of Hong Kong Island.  It comprises four office buildings, a five-star hotel, a retail entertainment complex and a deluxe residential development, aiming at creating an interactive environment that will be home to a strategic cluster of about 100 IT companies and 10,000 IT professionals. Cyberport won the internationally acclaimed Intelligent Building of the Year Award 2004 in New York City on 11 June 2004, which is given to commercial buildings that have used broadband and information systems technology to add demonstrable value in the form of advanced services and merits to its tenants.

Cream Cortex

We bezochten er één van de bedrijven, Cream Cortex. Dit bedrijf ontwikkelt online game en animaties. In het kort ook weer een beschrijving van dit bedrijf in het Engels. Hello Kitty

Zeer indrukwekkend was ‘Hello Kitty’. In dit bedrijf werken ongeveer 40 medewerkers aan deze opdracht van Hello Kitty. Weer even in het Engels: ‘Hello Kitty’ is the best-known of many simply drawn fictional characters produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. ‘Hello Kitty’ is a friendly white kitty with the head larger than her body, small button eyes and nose, but no mouth. She is said to be five apples tall and the weight of three apples. In 1974, Sanrio Co. Ltd. of Tokyo, introduced a ‘Hello Kitty’ franchise. The first ‘Hello Kitty’ item was a vinyl coin purse sold in Tokyo, according to Sanrio Inc.'s U.S. marketing director Bill Hensley. In 1976, the franchise was introduced into the U.S. The ‘Hello Kitty’ line has developed under licensing arrangements worth more than $1 billion a year in sales. Examples of products depicting the character include dolls, stickers and greeting cards to clothes, accessories, school supplies, dishes and home appliances. Sanrio Puroland is the official theme park of Sanrio featuring ‘Hello Kitty’ and her friends.
