Real-life innovation
Studying science in Arnhem or Nijmegen is far from boring. Students can get practical experience with a company during their training. The result: an innovative interaction.
The Arnhem Nijmegen Urban Region is a real knowledge region. And
especially technical innovation is important. Not only in business circles but
also at school. These two need each other and reinforce each other.
That's why a new way was thought up to let students learn and work at
the same time. It's called 'innovative learning'. Students of secondary
vocational schools will have their innovative learning term in the last
semester of their studies and students of the universities of vocational education
have this term in the last or one-but-last year.
There are many options. Students can do some innovative learning
individually, or in a group. They can do a project at school, but also in a
company.
Innovative learning in a company is real-life learning. Students often
put 'their' company on to technical innovations. This may result in new or
better products for the company and a patent for the student!
The student will be coached by his tutors though the coach is only a
'direction indicator'. Students must get
cracking themselves, and this encourages them. Because as opposed to school,
the end product must function perfectly in the real-life business world.
