Warm Winter Weekend
The inner city of Arnhem will be very much alive with all kinds of activity during the 'Warm Winter Weekend' , varying from ice carving to ice skating on the Korenmarkt, a two-day Christmas Fair, Father Christmas orchestras, winter street shows and a real race between various Father Christmasses ...
High lights of the Warm Winter Weekend will be the Dutch Ice Carving Championship and the Father Christmas race.
Ice Carving Championship
The Dutch Ice Carving Championship will be held on Saturday 13 December 2008. Fifteen professional teams (each team consisting of two people) will battle in the inner city of Arnhem for the official title of ‘Dutch Ice Carving Champion’.
Contestants will have five blocks of professional transparent ice measuring 100x50x25cms at their disposal, as well as chain saws, hammers, chisels, etc. It is up to each team to show their worth and create an overwhelming ice image.
Father Christmas Race
On the second day of the Warm Winter Weekend hordes of Father and Mother Christmasses will run thorough the streets of the inner-city of Arnhem, sweating and gasping to be the first to cross the finish line. The contestants will all be wearing Christmas outfits. The money earned by this playful race will go to a children’s playground at the Witte School in Arnhem.
