Roots & More – The Journeys of the Spirits in the Africa Museum
‘Roots & More’ is an exhibition featuring the spirituality in the work of modern artists from the African Diaspora (which includes Cuba, Haiti, Brazil and the United States). The spiritual richness that Africa provided to the western world in past and present is exhibited with a contemporary look.
Roots & More shows spectacular art: hanging boats with illuminated ghost creatures, a ghostly creature rowing an enormous squeaking and gnashing boat, the macabre images of the mysterious Bizango Fellowship of Haiti, ghosts in bottles, paintings with magic signs and mysterious appearances.
The exhibition is held in the African Museum in Berg en Dal until November 1, 2009.
