Zest for Zevenaar
De Liemers lies between Arnhem and the German border. This unknown piece of the Netherlands is surrounded by the rivers Rijn, IJssel and Oude IJssel, and the hills of Veluwe and Montferland. Its versatile landscape is ideal for a lovely day out in nature. Zevenaar is the pounding heart of De Liemers and borders on the De Gelderse Poort nature development area and the Oude Rijnstrangen nature reserve. It is heaven for nature lovers, cyclists, walkers or hikers.
The City
The municipality of Zevenaar not only has a wonderful city centre where you can do all your shopping, it also organises various annual events. Food and drink establishments can primarily be found around the Market: lots of pubs, places to eat, a cinema and cinema club offer numerous possibilities for entertainment.
Culture
Culture lovers can indulge themselves in Zevenaar because here you will find historic buildings that are definitely worth a visit. You can enjoy a guided tour through the city and admire its various monuments, such as the Liemers Museum for instance, housed in the Mathena havezate, a solid, brick-built, fortified manor surrounded by a moat. Just south of the city centre lies De Panoven recreation resort. This industrial estate from 1860 houses the first Dutch Brick and Tile Museum.
Scattered around Zevenaar are the villages of Babberich, Lathum, Giesbeek and Angerlo. Water lovers will discover that there are numerous ways of relaxing in the Rhederlaag water recreation area near Lathum and Giesbeek.
