Economic activity

The municipality of Montferland has direct connections to the highways A12 and A18. From this border community you can easily reach the German highways A1 and A3. It is a perfect operating base for businesses. There are five industrial estates: Fluun and Kollenburg in Didam, Matjeskolk in Loerbeek, and Het Hoor and Immenhorst in ’s-Heerenberg.

In the near future a Euregional industrial estate will be developed on the border. This will profit strongly from the proximity of the German city Emmerich which has railway connections and a harbour with a container terminal.
