The municipality of Duiven

The municipality of Duiven consists of the village Duiven and the rural centres Groessen en Loo. The municipality of Duiven has nearly 26.000 residents and a surface area of 3,516 hectare. The municipality is situated along the highway A12 right in the heart of the Liemers, north of the Pannerdens Kanaal. The former growth municipality of Duiven has a central position in the Liemers, a coherent area between Arnhem and the German border with a communal history, culture and a large number of shared challenges. Naturally the focus is on the people. Point of departure is durability in the broadest sense of the word, because it leads to a safe high-grade housing, living and business climate. The municipality is not alone in this. The business community also sees opportunities in durable enterprises in the areas of people, planet and profit. 

Growth for Everyone
Growth is not a purpose in itself, but it is important for the number and the kind of houses, shops, roads and other facilities. Duiven has chosen to retain the young and the elderly for the village, as in Groessen and Loo. For that reason Duiven wants to be able to offer them something appealing. Think of more entertainment possibilities, adequate education or more housing for the elderly. 

Leisure
Sports, (social) cultural life and day’s outings flourish, because Duiven is a nice place to be. In 2020 the town will house amongst others a middle-sized discotheque, a new cultural centre and a new large sports complex. Safe and appealing cycle and walk paths will tempt us more than before to spend a few relaxed hours in the country side.
