There are almost 340,000 jobs in Arnhem Nijmegen City Region. Nijmegen has most work places with over 95,000, Arnhem comes second with over 94,000.
For the development of its economy, Arnhem Nijmegen Cool Region pays particular attention to five promising areas.
These are:
Half of the Region’s inhabitants are part of the labour force. Participation in the labour market increases yearly. This is not expected to change until after 2001 when ageing of the population starts playing a role.
A third of the working population has a higher educational background.
The Arnhem Nijmegen City Region includes over 45,000 companies. More than a quarter of all entrepreneurs are female. More than 11 percent of the entrepreneurs were born outside the Netherlands.
